The Making of BELLA: Behind-the-Scenes Stories
As Three Catholics Take on Hollywood
A PRESENTATION
by
Fr. Roderick Ermatinger, LC
Eduardo Verastegui, Alejandro Monteverde, and Leo Severino walked similar patsh: all are Catholics; all used their talents to produce art on screen; all were dissatisfied with previous efforts and began looking for more meaningful projects. Their lives converged and together they formed Metanoia Films, and produced their first film-Bella-winner of the Toronto Film Festival People's Choice (2006) and the Smithsonian Institute Legacy awards.
Fr. Roderick Ermatinger, a Legionary priest, in the months leading up to the 2007 release of the film, helped to lead the grass-root promotional efforts in Manhattan and Long Island. He will talk about his personal experiences of working with the executive producers, director, writer, and the lead actor, as well as other experiences connected to "Bella".
This presentation will include behind-the-scenes testimony of the central figures, including the conversion of the lead actor, and will help to explore the importance of using one's talents to influence society and culture.
